Summer Rodeos In Colorado
There are great summer rodeos coast to coast, but for this blog we chose to zoom in on Colorado, with their majestic mountains and dry summer climate that doesn't make you run for the air conditioned indoors. Here are a few of our picks for summer rodeos worth visiting in colorful Colorado.
Breckenridge PRCA ProRodeo. Set in scenic Breckenridge, just about an hour from Denver, this rodeo goes down every weekend from June 22nd to September 1st. There's a BBQ dinner, tours from a rodeo clown, and mutton busting events for the little cowpokes. For more information, including prices, visit their website.
Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo. Coming up soon, July 10th-13th the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo hits Colorado Springs. The proceeds from this rodeo go to charities that support members of the military and their families, so your money goes toward a good cause. There are the usual rodeo events, in addition to wild cow milking, and even a motocross event. For a schedule and prices, check the website.
Rooftop Rodeo. You'd be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful location for a rodeo than Estes Park. July 9 to the 14th the Rooftop Rodeo features a parade through the town of Estes Park, an authentic chuck wagon cooking demo like the original cattle drivers ate, a golf event, and live music. This is a great rodeo for the entire family, check their website for all the info.
Colorado State Fair and Rodeo. If you want a rodeo surrounded by all the fun and entertainment of a state fair, this is your best bet. From August 23rd to September 2nd the Colorado State Fair and Rodeo goes down in Pueblo, about two hours south of Denver. In addition to the rodeo there's a full-blown carnival, monster trucks, demolition derby, plus concerts by country legends like Dwight Yoakam and The Oak Ridge Boys.
