5 Quick Tips for De-Winterizing Your RV

Now that Summer is in full swing, it’s time to pull your RV out of storage and get on the road for adventure! But before you begin on any of those journeys, there is a hugely important step that we wanted to address: De-Winterizing your RV. While you might think having it in storage keeps it fully safe all winter, there can still be damage that can occur.

To help ease the stress, we wanted to cover a few things!

The basics of de-winterizing your RV

1. Water System Check

Imagine a hose that has been sitting around for the last couple seasons and then this summer you pull it out to use. Would you drink the water that came out of it? Service your water to ensure it is sanitized so you can use it with no worries. Also, ensure there are no fresh water leaks in your system because the last thing you would want is to have a pool inside your RV!

2. Anti-Freeze Flush

Having it sit still all winter to kicking it into full action can cause stains in your system.

3. Tire Check

With the drastic temperature changes your tires air pressure is decreasing over the winter and you don’t want to be driving on tires without enough air in them. It’s also important to make sure there are no cracks that developed that could lead to a bigger issue.

4. Exterior

Thoroughly cleaning the exterior of your RV will get rid of all the dust, bugs and debris that has built up over the time it was in storage.

5. Interior

Since you’ll be spending so much time inside your RV make sure you double check all your appliances, waste tank for leaks and clean for debris build up.

Transwest offers a De-winterizing service that will have your RV for all the summer adventures you have ahead of you!
