Whether we like it or not, the cold months are approaching sooner or later - so, preparing your fleet for winter is a MUST for ensuring safety and performance on the road. 1. Check Your Battery Health

2. Inspect Your Tires

They’re designed to handle intense winter weather. Check your tread depth and air pressure regularly, as cold air can cause tires to lose air pressure faster.

4. Upgrade to Winter-Grade Diesel Fuel

If you’re operating a diesel engine, we recommend filling up with a winter-grade diesel fuel to prevent gelling, which commonly arises in winter. 

5. Monitor Your Coolant & Antifreeze Levels

Make sure you’re checking your trucks’ coolant and antifreeze levels to prevent the engine from freezing. Top off your coolant and antifreeze levels at the correct ratio to prevent those costly repairs caused by freezing temperatures.

6. Test Your Heater & Defroster

You want to be comfortable on those long, winter drives. Make sure the heating system in your truck is working effectively to keep yourself warm and toasty. Don’t forget to check the defrosters to ensure your windows and mirrors are clear for safe driving.

7. Create an Emergency Kit

This may be the last tip, but it’s certainly not the least important. Equip your truck with an emergency winter kit. Pack blankets, a flashlight, first-aid supplies, and non-perishable snacks. These kits could potentially save your life if you break down during a storm.
