A little bit of background on Newmar

Mahlon Miller and Marvin Newcomer founded Newmar Corporation in 1968 in Nappanee, Indiana. Before Newmar, both men worked for another RV manufacturer, but they shared a dream of starting a company that would produce the world’s highest-quality RVs. 

Once Mr. Miller and Mr. Newcomer started Newmar, they hired many renowned Nappanee woodworkers as part of their commitment to the company's locality and craftsmanship. Combining state-of-the-art technology with local, Amish-quality construction, they began production with just 100 employees. Their first product, a fifth-wheel travel trailer called the Kountry Aire, was released in 1971. 

Luxury Class A Coaches and Power Slideouts

Newmar debuted its first Class A coaches, the Dutch Star and the Mountain Aire, in 1990. In 1991, the company revealed one of the biggest innovations in the history of motorhome production: power slideouts. 

For a few years, Newmar’s competitors tried to steer buyers away from power slideouts, but by the fourth or fifth year of production, almost every other RV manufacturer began selling their own version of this game-changing innovation.

In 2012, Newmar decided to focus solely on Class A coaches, which has ultimately driven market innovation with their Comfort Drive™ steering system, the STAR foundation, and the industry’s first wheelchair-accessible Class A motor coaches to market. 

Because of its continued dedication to craftsmanship and ingenuity, Newmar's long, storied history spans multiple states, decades, and business models. The name is now synonymous with luxurious, meticulously crafted RVs.
