There is only one Class A front-engine diesel toy hauler on the market today: the Canyon Star. The 2027 model builds on that legacy with the performance and comfort Newmar is known for, starting with a responsive 340-horsepower Freightliner Custom Chassis and finishing with residential touches like polished solid-surface countertops, continuous flow water heater, standard Starlink (with subscription), and a queen-size pillow-top bed.
For travelers who can’t sit still, the Canyon Star is for those who want even more adventure. The 10-foot garage with a hump-free ramp door handles whatever you bring along, and the optional patio conversion, electric lift bunks, and Splendide washer and dryer make it easy to tailor the space to your trip. You’ll notice the new LED patio and security lights, updated exterior graphics, and available dash camera prep. You can also add the optional pet package.
Unlike larger multi-floor-plan lineups, the 2027 Newmar Canyon Star maintains a singular focus on a 39-foot floor plan. This also includes a patio conversion setup, thoughtful storage throughout, optional overhead bunks, and flexible sleeping space for up to six adventure-seekers.

Powered by diesel
Since the Canyon Star is made for all kinds of terrain, it needs the power to back it up. It sits on the Freightliner custom chassis and runs with a 340-horsepower Cummins B6.7 diesel engine producing 700 pound-feet of torque through an Allison 2500 MH transmission. Adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, traction control, and electronic stability control all help the driver feel planted, especially once the garage is loaded up and the road starts getting longer and bumpier.

Take the controls
When you’re headed off the beaten path, you need visibility, so the cockpit makes sure ease of access and maneuverability are top features. An OptiView digital dash, Xite infotainment system, side-view cameras, USB and USB-C charging, and six-way power seating all help the driving experience feel more connected and less intimidating. Tilt and telescoping steering adjustments also add a nice touch of personalization and comfort.

The Canyon Star standout, the 10-foot garage, gives you room for motorcycles, bikes, kayaks, toolboxes, or extra adventure gear. At the same time, the optional patio deck turns the back of the coach into a usable outdoor hangout space. Tie-down tracks, removable carpeting, a rear power screen, an available washer-and-dryer setup, and an optional drop-down bunk system help this space adapt to the trip.

The kitchen setup is functional and simple (what more could you ask for). A convection microwave with an air fryer, a three-burner cooktop, pantry storage, and an available induction cooking setup make meal prep easy. Depending on the configuration, you can also add dishwasher options and upgrade to a larger Whirlpool refrigerator for extra cold storage.

Recharge after the ride
A queen-size bed with a pillow-top mattress is the centerpiece of the bedroom, paired with wardrobe storage and decorative finishes that soften the coach's more rugged and outgoing personality. In the bathroom, a 40-by-30-inch shower with a skylight, a Truma AquaGo water system, holding tank heat pads, and a fold-down shower seat.
