If you’re searching for a smaller recreational vehicle with easy maneuverability and all the amenities of a larger Class A coach, a Class C motorcoach could be the perfect fit. These units come with loads of storage space and all the comforts of home despite their smaller size. Popular for their easy driving, the Class C RV is ideal whether you are traveling cross-country on a road trip or across town for a weekend tournament.
Transwest offers a wide range of Class C models to accommodate all family types. Whether your family is growing, downsizing, or staying the same, you will have plenty of space for relaxing between tournaments and lots of room in the kitchen for team tailgating prep.
Typically, a Class C coach can sleep two adults and up to three children. Once you’ve found the ideal model, you can rest easy knowing that our trusted financing partners are here to help you get on the road. Our professional staff is highly skilled in creating custom leasing solutions for all budgets and situations, and our state-of-the-art facilities employ technicians to keep your vehicle in prime condition at all times. We offer complimentary maintenance services including water heater repair, hail damage inspection, roof maintenance, and more.
Class C Recreational Vehicles are a popular choice for many travelers due to their compact size, easy maneuverability, and luxurious comforts. Thankfully, there are many quality Class C models to fit different budgets and needs. The Tiffin Wayfarer is a high-end luxury vehicle that starts at around $100,000. With four-floor plan options, you can have your choice of interior layouts, and each unit includes a shower skylight, high-quality kitchen cabinets, a queen size mattress, and leather seats. Another premium option is the Winnebago Minnie Winnie. This motorhome features a powerful Ford-built engine and several different floor plans to sleep anywhere from 6-9 people. The vehicle also features the classic over-the-cab bed along with a full kitchen, bathroom, and spacious outdoor deck.
A class C RV is typically somewhere between 21-41 ft. long, and they are often about the same size as a moving truck. Their relatively small size makes them easy to maneuver and drive, yet many models are built with slide-out sections to maximize the living area. Although they are smaller than the bus-like Super C motorhomes, Class C RVs are still built with many additional features to provide creature comforts away from home. Many models boast plentiful sleeping areas, full kitchens, extra storage space, pull-out decks, or luxurious master bedrooms.
Class C motorhomes are generally smaller than class A vehicles, making them a good option for long drives because they are easier to navigate and more fuel-efficient. However, many models come with comparable amenities to Class A vehicles, and some are even built to a comparable size.
In most cases, an ordinary driver’s license will be enough to operate a Class C vehicle. As long as your vehicle is under 26,000 lbs., you do not need a special license to drive it — this rule is the same across all 50 states. Because the Class C motorhome is generally smaller and tends to weigh somewhere between 10,000 to 12,000 lbs., it does not usually exceed the weight limits on your driver’s license. Still, if you are in doubt, it’s a good idea to check with your local DMV, because laws are always subject to change and they typically vary from state to state.
If your motorhome weighs more than 26,000 lbs., you should check on your state’s website to see if there are any special requirements for operating your vehicle. Some states require a CDL or a non-commercial form of special licensing to operate a recreational vehicle that is above 26,000 lbs.
A Class C RV typically gets about 8-10 mpg. However, this can vary depending on a variety of factors. A diesel-powered engine, for instance, is more expensive upfront, but it will get better miles to the gallon than a gas engine. To improve your miles to the gallon, keep in mind that the best speed for fuel efficiency is between 55-60 mph. Also, your gas mileage will be less if your vehicle is very heavy. The direction you are driving and the type of road can also affect your gas mileage. For example, your mpg will be lower if you are driving uphill and into the wind versus driving downhill and away from the wind.
First, it’s important to consider whether you want to purchase a used or new vehicle. A new vehicle will come with a warranty, a sparkling clean interior and exterior, and the latest in modern technology. However, a used RV can be a good way to save money while still making a valuable investment. You also want to pay close attention to the storage capacity of the vehicle. Think about all the gear and extra things you plan to store in the RV. Does this particular model have enough weight capacity to hold everything?
If you decide to buy a used RV, make sure to ask the dealership what kind of inspection they do on their vehicles. This will tell you whether you need to get the vehicle inspected separately on your own.
I’ve always wanted an RV but I didn’t know for sure if I could handle driving such a big vehicle. My Thor Outlaw has been very easy to handle.
