Walkthrough of 2024 Renegade XL 45QS
Aug 05, 2023
About This Video
This walkthrough covers the 2024 Renegade XL 45QS, a quad-slide Super C motorhome built on the Freightliner Cascadia P4 chassis. It covers the Polaris single-color paint, blackout package, lithium power system, service bays, and towing setup, followed by the theater-seating living area, induction kitchen, cockpit, rear master bedroom, optional washer and dryer, and available decor choices.
What You'll See in This Video
Polaris Paint, Cascadia P4 Chassis, and Blackout Package
The coach wears the Polaris finish, a gray color that is one of two single-paint options introduced this year, alongside an all-white version. Several standard color choices with graphics packages also remain available. The Freightliner Cascadia P4 chassis uses a 600-horsepower DD16 engine rated at 2,050 lb-ft of torque and includes the Freightliner Assurance safety package with adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and lane departure assist. This unit also has the blackout package, which replaces the usual chrome with black Alcoa wheels, door handles, mirrors, and steps, and the chassis carries a 120-gallon fuel tank and a 15-gallon DEF tank.
Window Awnings, Lithium Batteries, and Inverters
Optional window awnings shade the two family room windows. The first bay holds two starting batteries and an air chuck connected to the onboard compressor for filling tires and toys. This coach replaces the standard 8D batteries with three Dragonfly lithium batteries rated at 270 amp-hours each, for 810 amp-hours total. Two optional 3,000-watt Victron Energy inverters are installed, and one is wired to the center air conditioner so it can run while driving without starting the generator.
Water Service Bay and Tank Capacities
This unit has the optional macerator system, and a standard dump connection is also available. The presenter notes that most Renegade models, including the XL, carry 150 gallons of fresh water, 75 gallons of gray, and 75 gallons of black. Controls in the bay are labeled with laser-cut markings instead of stickers that can fade. The bay also includes a powered hose reel, a pull-out sprayer, a whole-house filter, a black tank flush, gray and black tank dump valves, and a tank fill connection.
360 Camera System, Generator, and Shore Power
The coach is equipped with a 360-degree camera system that includes front and rear cameras, side-mounted cameras, and turn-signal cameras. An Onan 12.5 generator supplies power, and the presenter says it can run all three air conditioners and the induction cooktop together. A nearby compartment contains a 50-amp power cord reel with a retract button and an automatic transfer switch.
Rear Cameras and Towing Equipment
Two rear cameras are mounted at the back of the coach. The upper camera gives a broad rear view, and the lower one helps when lining up with a trailer, such as a stacker. The hitch is rated at 40,000 pounds, and a built-in Voyager camera system allows a compatible camera inside a towed trailer, such as a horse trailer, to be viewed from the driver's seat. A 7-way plug is provided, and glad hands for air-brake trailers are capped off at the rear and stored in an adjacent bay.
Central Vacuum Components and Rear Storage Bays
The rear bay houses the central vacuum components, including the power switch and an access point for emptying the bag. A three-quarter-depth storage bay underneath can hold items such as lounge chairs. The bay also stores spare interior tile, the air line for the front air chuck, and slide lock brackets. Two receivers are included: a standard 2-inch hitch and a larger GEN-Y hitch that supplies the 40,000-pound towing rating.
Passenger Side Lighting, Awnings, Pass-Through Storage, and Exterior TV
Optional under-slide LED lighting can be set to different colors. Two Girard Nova awnings have LED lights on the ends and wind sensors that retract them automatically in high wind. For this model year, Renegade removed the wall between two of the storage bays, creating a pass-through space for long items such as a hammock or flagpole. This side also has a 32-inch Samsung exterior smart TV with a Bluetooth-capable Bose sound bar, and the coach uses an Aqua-Hot 600D system for engine preheat, primary heating, and continuous hot water.
Living Area With Theater Seating and Televator
With the slides retracted, there is still enough room to walk through the coach. With the slides extended, this 45QS shows its optional theater seating, and in place of a couch the opposite side has a bar-style setup with storage. A 52-inch Samsung smart TV rises and lowers on a push-button televator, and a large Bose sound bar is mounted above. The cabinetry is finished in Rockport wood, which Renegade introduced for 2024.
Kitchen Appliances, Cabinetry, and Window Shades
The kitchen uses black stainless steel Samsung appliances and a recessed induction cooktop that requires magnetic cookware. Built-in cutting boards and a tile backsplash complete the counter area. Day blinds are manual, and night blinds are remote-controlled throughout the coach. The cabinetry includes a media cabinet with power connections for satellite receivers or a Blu-ray player, dovetail soft-close drawers, a utensil drawer, and a space suited for a trash can.
Theater Recliners, Connectivity, and Front Privacy Shades
The seating is upholstered in black leather, and the electric theater-style recliners sit toward the rear of the living area. All of the windows in this area open for ventilation, and optional overhead cabinets add storage. The overhead cabinets also hold a Winegard internet booster, a Winegard satellite connection for in-motion or stationary use, and an over-the-air antenna with an indicator light for HD broadcast channels. The front windshield area has curtain-style privacy drapes plus MCD shades that attach with Velcro for full blackout.
Cascadia Cockpit and Digital Dash
The cockpit uses the Freightliner Cascadia layout, which the presenter describes as comfortable and convenient. The driver faces an all-digital dash with built-in navigation. The walkthrough begins describing the dash's engine information displays, but the available transcript cuts off partway through this segment.
Rear Master Bedroom Storage and Optional Washer and Dryer
Both sides of the bed have 110-volt outlets with built-in USB ports, along with drawers and adjustable shelving. The overhead storage and the large closet are cedar-lined, and the closet has an LED light that turns on when the door opens. This unit has the optional washer and dryer, and every coach comes pre-wired for them, so buyers who skip the appliances can use the space for drawers or closet storage. The wardrobe area has shelves, an extra hanging bar, and hanging space split into his and hers sections, with more storage below.
Bedroom TV, Central Vacuum Inlet, and Freshwater Access
The bedroom has a 32-inch Samsung smart TV with a Bose sound bar, and nearby outlets provide 110-volt, USB, and USB-C connections. A media area below can hold another satellite box or a Blu-ray player, and the drawers are soft-close. This area also has the central vacuum inlet, and the presenter says the hose reaches all the way to the front of the coach. The two 75-gallon freshwater tanks are located here, and the water pump is easy to reach, which the presenter estimates would allow a handy owner to replace it in about 15 minutes.
XL Ceiling AC Covers and Entry Controls
The XL package adds decorative ceiling covers over the standard air conditioners, which also reduce some of their noise. A one-touch switch turns off everything at once. The carpeted wooden step stored in the exterior bay fits over the entry well to keep anyone, including pets, from stepping or falling into it at night. Near the entry are the coach disconnect, front and rear master switches, awning controls, and the scene master control for the undercarriage LED lights.
Decor, Leather, and Layout Options
Renegade offers three leather colors for this coach: black, as shown in this unit, gray, and tan. There are also three wood colors, including the new Rockport finish shown here. The presenter notes that the cream soft wallboard color can be changed, and the bar-style area can be replaced with a couch that has a sleeper sofa. The 45QS does not include a cab-over bed.
Editorial Review Notes
I could not access the YouTube video directly, and the supplied transcript has no time codes. For that reason, the sections above have no timestamps or video links. Each section needs its start time verified against the video, then a link added in this format: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID&t=SECONDSs. The video ID was also not provided.
The transcript appears to skip part of the walkthrough. It cuts off mid-sentence during the cockpit and digital dash segment and resumes in the rear bedroom. The video description mentions a booth dinette, microwave, Samsung smart refrigerator, and a mid bath with his and hers sinks, but none of these appear in the supplied transcript, so they are left out above. The full video should be checked for these segments.
The video description refers to "Retreat" decor, but the transcript only names the Rockport wood. This difference should be confirmed. Several unclear terms were left out or rewritten generally: the name of the leather ("Anserite"), the phrase "you go to ARB" in the satellite discussion, and "change with you" in the bedroom segment. The location of the central vacuum inlet, freshwater tanks, and water pump is assumed from the order of the transcript and should be confirmed visually.
I corrected the following clear transcription errors: Vectron to Victron, ACOA to Alcoa, Nova Girard to Girard Nova, AquaHot to Aqua-Hot, and "over there antenna" to over-the-air antenna. I also wrote the Onan generator as "Onan 12.5" because the transcript does not state the unit.
