Owning a luxury RV feels like you have a true home on wheels. These RVs are designed with all the bells and whistles you can imagine and are equipped with premium amenities. When shopping for a luxury RV, you might find yourself wondering, how much does a luxury RV really cost?

Today, a luxury RV can cost anywhere between $40,000 and $1,500,000, with some luxury RVs falling outside of the high and low end of that scale.

With such a wide scale for pricing, the true cost of a luxury RV will vary dramatically depending on what type of RV you purchase, the age of the RV, and the amenities you wish to have.

We created the following guide to break down what contributes to a luxury RV's total cost and help you narrow in on the right price range for your needs.

What Type of RV Do You Need?

One of the biggest factors in your RV price tag will be the type you choose to purchase. Fortunately, RVs are not one-size-fits-all. RVs come in a variety of sizes and types, affording you to find an RV that will match your traveling lifestyle.

Class A

Class A RVs are often recognized as the ultimate luxury RV. These big RVs are anywhere from 29 feet to 45 feet long, making them the largest RV on this list. They can tie with bus conversions in size.

With its roomy interiors, a Class A motorhome is the perfect choice for an avid traveler who wants to travel in luxury. The body is outfitted with everything you could want. Enjoy having a full kitchen on the road? Want a roomy bathroom? Need a king-size bed to sleep comfortably? Looking for ample storage? If you said yes to any of these questions, then Class A RVs are your home away from home.

Delivering ultimate luxury, Class A RVs generally range anywhere from $60,000-$600,000. The price tag will depend on the year, make, and model and what extra features the RV is equipped with. Class A RVs get more luxurious each year, with manufacturers like Newmar and Tiffin producing state-of-the-art new models on a yearly basis.

Class B

Ranging in length from 18 feet to 24 feet, Class B RVs are a solid choice for travelers who love exploring off the beaten track. The smaller size of Class B RVs allows them to maneuver in tighter areas, and this accessibility means these camper vans can easily fit into a broader range of campgrounds. Additionally, many Class B RVs are upfitted vans, designed to handle rough back roads.

However, the smaller frame of Class B RVs comes at no expense to luxury. Many Class B RVs, often called camper vans, are outfitted with all the same amenities as their Class A counterparts. Popular Class B models like the Winnebago Revel are built with a cozy dinette and a bathroom equipped for long-term travel. Camper vans are capable, comfortable, and perfect for off-grid adventures.

The cost of a Class B RV ranges anywhere from $40,000 to $200,000 depending on the vehicle and year chosen.

Class C

Smaller than a Class A but bigger than a Class B, Class C RVs strike a wonderful balance between the two. These RVs are usually around 21 feet to 41 feet long, so you can think of them as being approximately the same size as the average moving truck.

Being a touch smaller than a Class A, many people find Class C’s easier to navigate. These RVs are equipped with the luxury of a Class A and many of the traditional RV features you expect. From full kitchens to a separate sleeping space, Class C RVs like the Winnebago EKKO deliver a great blend between compact and luxurious.

A Class C RV cost ranges between $50,000 and $200,000 depending on how new the RV is and the make and model chosen.

Super C

A Super C RV is a unique blend of a Class A RV's luxury and spaciousness paired with the sizing of Class C. One of the features that distinguish a Super C  from other luxury RVs is that these motorhomes are usually built on a truck chassis.

This makes a Super C RV the perfect choice for towing vehicles or extra toys. Not only will a Super C offer you better towing capabilities, but these RVs are outfitted with luxury kitchens, bathrooms, and private sleeping areas. The gorgeous Renegade Explorer, for example, is designed with a kitchen, a fireplace, an oven, and all of the other amenities required to make vacation relaxing.

The cost for a Super C RV can range anywhere from $150,000 - $600,000.

Bus Conversions

Rounding out the list of luxury RV options are bus conversions. These luxury coaches are around 45 feet long, making them a similar cousin to Class A RVs. Built on a bus chassis, these coaches are known for elegance and ultimate luxury. Imagine transporting a high-end apartment into a bus.

Not only do luxury coaches offer the ultimate living space, but these bus conversions are durable and designed to offer an incredibly smooth ride. Bring the whole family along when you opt for a luxury coach.

The cost for a bus conversion is somewhere between $500,000 and $1,000,000+.

What Extra Amenities Do You Want?

While the type of RV you choose to purchase is the biggest determinant of the price you will pay, the amenities you want will also increase or decrease the total cost. For example, adding on the following extra amenities will often increase your total bill:

  • 4X4 Capabilities
  • Solar Power
  • Built-In Electronics (such as TVs, smart thermostat systems, and backup cameras)
  • Backup Generator for Power
  • Interior Upgrades (opting for higher-end backsplashes, countertops, and trim)
  • Attached Awning
  • Built-In Air Compressor
  • Racks and Attachments for Gear (such as bike racks, roof racks, and kayak mounts)
  • Towing Capabilities
